June 2003 – Montreal, Quebec --JCMB Technology Inc., a provider of software and services for electric, gas and water utilities (specializing in distribution network data accuracy and connectivity) announces the release of JOBS™, version 2.0.
JOBS is a real-time field crew dispatch application built on Microsoft® .NET technology (data is stored in an Oracle® database). Using a wireless web-based messaging system, field crews can be notified of both scheduled and unscheduled fieldwork directly in their vehicles. JOBS provides up-to-the-minute activity status and generates detailed fieldwork reports. It also enables crews to perform on-site redlining with GPS accuracy.
JOBS is currently in use at Sierra Pacific Power Company (SPPC), by 4 different departments, with a total of 40 field crews and 35 dispatch application users. “The JOBS dispatch application has enabled Sierra to dispatch field service work directly to the field users. In addition, we are able to send the daily fieldwork to the users before they start their day’s activities. This enables us to start our crew from home thus increasing productivity and decreasing customer wait times. JOBS has activity time stamping so all pieces of fieldwork can be tracked said Joe Pellissier, Project Manager, GIS and Distribution Technology at Sierra Pacific Power Company. “JOBS has delivered the essential fieldwork dispatching functionality around our work practices without the overheads, complex screens, and training required by other dispatch applications”.
Feature highlights of this new release include Multiple Job Dispatching, Department Color Coding, Multiple Job Closing, Enhanced Job Sorting/Routing, Enhanced Geocoding, Two-way Interface, Error-Logging and Full Mapping Capabilities. Besides delivering a feature-rich release, Version 2.0 provides users with a secure and robust system. “JOBS release 2.0 has enabled our field crews to locate all their assigned work on a map located in their vehicle along with the details of each activity. This allows them to better prioritize and route their work. In addition, the mapping and redlining functionality has allowed us to deploy field-mapping functions that were impossible before” stated Joe Pellissier.
